ZZZ SOLD! BEL AMI original Dutch poster WILLY FORST 1939

Original Dutch poster (65×99,8 cm) from 1939 for the musical version of BEL AMI directed by and starring WILLY FORST. This poster is used for the screening of January 12th 1940 in the Rembrandt theatre in Utrecht. Interestingly BEL AMI was rejected by the Dutch censor early 1939 because “this film of German make contains the intention to depict democracy as cowardly, unreliable, corrupt, mean and immoral to raise the concept of the supremacy of a totalitarian state in the eye of the public.” In a second ruling the censor rejected the film because “it conflicted with public decency and due to current international relations also in conflict with public order.” Poster is in very good condition with some fold and edge wear and some minor foxing in the borders.
